global warming

My favorite detail about this piece are the puffed sleeves... They are adorable, don't you agree ?

I used a totally different yarn than the project called for - a bulky kind I had bought in Florence for an Estes vest - but ended up giving up on that project and decided to cast on this instead. Had to do some maths to account for this difference in gauge, and my first attempt started off too large but my second try came out just as I wanted.

~weekend food~

... eating out ...

Valentine's lunch at a restaurant I've been meaning to try for quite a while. Food was amazing (and original) and the service quite outstanding, but prices are a bit steep so it's for special occasions only.

... and eating in ...

a sort of apple pie cake, recipe from Molly (orangette). Turned out delicious.

o w l s

OK, so I think I fell in love with these owls :)
I mean, this is probably the best fitting sweater I've ever made for myself. The pattern is brilliant, I especially like how the shaping at the back turned out, and just look at these owls !
Sorry about not having better photos, I had planned to get some action shots taken this weekend because this sweater definitely deserves it, but the weather wasn't on my side so I had to go with my usual setting.

Changes: absolutely none, probably the first time I haven't changed a stitch from the original pattern.

I also used buttons I had from stash, my aunt gave me a bunch of vintage mother-of-pearl buttons a while ago and I had just enough to use them here, which turned out perfect.

Grey Cord Tunic

The o w l s are ready, but the weather has been so dreary I didn't have enough light to take decent photos.

So instead here's a garment I finished recently, with a few changes to suit me better. I think it's pattern G from this book (Otona no couture "Stylish dress book" ISBN 4579111850). I loved this fabric on sight so I bought it without a specific project in mind, and later when I was browsing my sewing books I thought this pattern would be perfect. It turned out nicely, I think, even though I cut the wrong size and had to resize quite a bit.

I haven't sewn anything for myself in a while, so I'm hoping this will get me inspired to start a few projects I've been meaning to do.
